Our story began in 1783 when Jacob Schweppe brought ‘Schweppervescence’ to life. Today, Schweppes Australia continues to be a leading company in the Australian non-alcoholic beverage market. Flavours included lemonade, lime, raspberry, sarsparella and creamy soda. Schweppes took over the famous Passiona brand in 1979 and in the 1990s, launched Schweppes Traditionals—a highly successful range of carbonated fruit beverages. In 1877, the Schweppes brand arrived in Australia with the first factory built in Sydney. During the 1870s, our famous Schweppes Tonic Water and Ginger Ale were added to the range and the company continued to expand geographically with factories opening around the world. Schweppes continued Jacob’s tradition of innovation and in 1835 introduced Schweppes Lemonade, which led to many other flavoured fizzy drinks being created. In 1798, he revealed to the partners ‘the whole art, Jacob retired and sold most of his interest in the company to three men.
